Curtis is a Mediterranean-alpine Bordeaux blend of Merlot and Cabernet grapes. The Cabernet adds peppery spice and black currant fruit, while the Merlot contributes richness and soft tannins. A well-balanced wine with an excellent price-pleasure ratio. - Gerardo [TS07/23]
Gerardo's Notes: The name of the wine village of Kurtatsch derives from the Latin term Curtis (higher farm). The Merlot vine is a pronounced deep rooter, which penetrates the warm deep Kurtatsch clay soils to absorb the mineral salts. Cabernet requires the warmest sites and prefers lighter sandy and gravelly soils with a lower clay content. In the Mediterranean climate of Kurtatsch, both varieties find these ideal conditions. Merlot gives the wine fullness and soft tannins. From Cabernet Sauvignon comes the elegant fruit, reminiscent of blackcurrants. In the Kurtatsch Cuvee Curtis, these grape varieties combine to create a wine with a great deal of fullness, elegance and finesse.
