The Pinot Grigio from Kurtatsch-Penon impresses with a delicate, mineral spiciness that wonderfully reflects its origin from the calcareous, steep slopes. The bouquet sometimes reveals fiery varietal aromas of gooseberries as well as delicate notes of lime and acacia blossom, which lend the wine a lively freshness.
On the palate, the freshness of the mountain grapes is combined with the fullness of the valley grapes to create an exceptional Pinot Gris. It has a creamy smoothness that combines a slightly southern warmth with a northern seriousness and thus shows all its class in a balanced and multi-layered taste experience. - Gerardo [TS10/18]

© www.kellerei-kurtatsch.it Pinot Grigio (also called Ruländer) has been native to South Tyrol since the 19th century - the first 'pinot gris' vines were introduced from Burgundy by Archduke Johann of Austria in 1852. In deeper Kurtatsch vineyards, Pinot Grigio develops a low acidity, while the high alcohol and extract content condition strength and pleasant taste. The Pinot Grigio vineyards for the Kurtatsch 'Selection' are located both at low altitudes (220 m above sea level) and at lofty heights (650 m above sea level). The subsoil is calcareous with a high percentage of gravel. Pinot Grigio combines the power and extract of the valley with the elegant freshness and minerality of the mountain. - Gerardo [TS10/18]
