  The “Sonntaler” Vernatsch Alte Reben from the Kurtatsch Winery is a precise and characterful homage to the indigenous Vernatsch grape variety: grown on the slopes of Kurtatsch on red, sandy-loamy soils with dolomite and porphyry weathering—a terroir that captivates with its large day-night fluctuations and mineral depth. The vines come from old vineyards with an average age of 60 to 90 years, which naturally results in low yields and exceptional concentration. In the cellar, temperature-controlled maceration takes place in stainless steel tanks, with regular flooding of the pomace cake ensuring extraction of texture and expression. The wine then matures in large wooden barrels - an aging process that brings out both fruit and origin in equal measure.

In the glass, the Sonntaler shines in a clear ruby red with a slight garnet shimmer - a visual foreshadowing of its elegance. On the nose, it unfolds a fine bouquet of heart cherries, wild strawberries, and red currants, complemented by subtle herbal hints and mineral notes that make the alpine environment palpable. On the palate, the wine impresses with its slender yet gripping structure: fine-grained tannins play around the ripe fruit, while a salty-mineral finish adds depth to the experience.
