Gewürztraminer DOC 2022

  The Gewürztraminer from Kloster Neustift in the Eisack Valley in South Tyrol appears in the glass in a warm straw yellow with slightly greenish reflections—a first impression of clarity, freshness, and lightness. The nose reveals a rich and distinctive bouquet reminiscent of rose petals, lychee, and oriental spices, wonderfully expressing the typical aromatic characteristics of this traditional variety.

On the palate, this Gewürztraminer impresses with its full-bodied character and a spicy yet harmoniously integrated acidity that gives it structure and depth. The long and elegant finish underscores its fine balance between fruit, intensity, and minerality—characterized by the permeable moraine soils with mica schist, paragneiss, and quartzite in the vineyards near Brixen and Cornaiano, located between 650 and 700 meters above sea level.

This wine has special significance due to its connection to the long history of the monastery: The vineyards of Neustift Monastery are among the oldest cultivated sites in the Eisack Valley, and the Gewürztraminer, with its aroma and profile, reflects the interplay of the Alpine climate and high altitude — a rare combination that gives this wine its unmistakable South Tyrolean identity. - Gerardo [TS10/23]
