  The “St. Valentin” Lagrein from the St. Michael-Eppan Winery is a powerful expression of South Tyrolean winemaking, masterfully showcasing the authenticity and depth of the Lagrein grape. The grapes thrive on high-altitude, southeast-facing vineyards around Bolzano, where calcareous soils and cool downdrafts provide ideal conditions for the ripening of this indigenous grape variety. After careful hand harvesting, vinification takes place with intensive maceration, followed by twelve months of aging in small barriques and a further six months in larger wooden barrels to give the wine additional complexity and balance. The result is a deep dark, concentrated red wine with a powerful structure and remarkable longevity.

In the glass, the “St. Valentin” Lagrein presents itself with intense aromas of ripe black berries, accompanied by spicy notes such as pepper and a hint of cocoa and leather, which can be attributed to the elegant wood aging. On the palate, it unfolds a dense, almost velvety texture, supported by fine-grained tannins and a harmoniously integrated acidity that gives the wine freshness and structure. This Lagrein is not only a pleasure for the moment, but also has excellent aging potential, making it a real treasure for wine lovers. The name “St. Valentin” refers to the region's rich history and gives the wine a special symbolic significance. At the St. Michael-Eppan winery, great importance is attached to careful hand-picking and gentle vinification during production, so that the characteristic nuances of the Lagrein grape remain unadulterated.
