The grapes for Lagrein St. Valentin come from the best vineyards in Leitach near Bolzano: the color in the glass is a deep, dark red, almost fading into black. The complex bouquet is characterized by notes of cocoa, brunella, dark forest fruits and vanilla. The palate has immense power and structure, with well-integrated acidity and noticeable tannins. - Gerardo [TS06/22]

Gerardo's Notes: The Lagrein grape variety finds the best conditions for absolute top quality in the vineyards around Bolzano. The grapes for Sanct Valentin grow on an exposed southeast slope of the Wangger farm in Leitach, at the entrance to the Eisack Valley. The Sanct Valentin matures for twelve months in small oak barrels, then again for another six months in large wooden barrels. Important for this pithy dense red wine is several years of bottle aging. It develops immense power on the palate with beautifully integrated acidity. A rustic mountain wine with excellent aging potential.
