A Mano | Apulien
The small, artisanal (A Mano = by hand) and very family-run winery A Mano is the dream child of Elvezia Sbalchiero and Mark Shannon. Originally from Friuli, Elvezia met the Californian oenologist Mark in Sicily. Through their love, a shared dream was born, which would see the light of day in Puglia: A Mano. Today, more than 25 years after the foundation of the winery, Elvezia and Mark are still reinterpreting the wines of Puglia. The light, refreshing and always dry wines from natural cultivation and artisan production set a pleasant counterpoint to the usual wines from Puglia.
Remarkable is the style of the wines, which is unusual for Apulian conditions: These are clearly dry made (i.e., fully fermented) and also lean (in stark contrast to many rather opulent wines from Puglia). Even the Appassito is drier and leaner than the Appassimento of other Apulian wineries. In addition, the wines of A Mano are all grown and vinified naturally by hand, but the small winery is not officially certified because of the effort involved. - Gerardo [TS02/23]
A Mano · Primitivo Rosato IGT 2023A Mano, Puglia
The Primitivo Rosato from A Mano is fresh and fruity, with a bouquet reminiscent of tropical fruit and a subtle hint of crystallized ginger. Intense aromas of blackberry and ripe peach are reflected on the palate, giving the wine its aromatic richness. Despite its depth, it remains a light, elegant rosato with a moderate alcohol content - a real bestseller that reinterprets the diversity and accessibility of the Primitivo grape. - Gerardo [TS10/24]
