Grappa Paolo Berta Riserva del Fondatore from the Berta distillery in Piedmont is an exceptionally mature grappa whose amber color with golden reflections immediately hints at its long barrel aging. Only the pomace of the renowned Piedmontese grape varieties Barbera and Nebbiolo, which come from the traditional vineyards of La Morra, Monforte d'Alba, and Nizza Monferrato. Distillation takes place in small copper stills, followed by aging in French barriques for over 20 years, an exceptional period of time that gives this grappa its silky texture, ripe fruitiness, and complex aromas. This patience in the cellar makes Riserva del Fondatore a masterpiece of classic distillation and a tribute to founder Paolo Berta, whose idea of aging grappa in wood over a long period of time has had a lasting impact on the Berta family.
The bouquet of this grappa is intense and complex, with aromas of ripe fruit, vanilla, cocoa, tobacco, and a hint of cinnamon, which are particularly harmoniously blended thanks to the long oak aging. On the palate, it is soft, full-bodied and balanced, carried by a warm spiciness and an elegant, lingering finish that underlines the complexity and depth of this unique distillate.
