Grappa Roccanivo is an outstanding grappa from Piedmont, produced at the traditional Berta distillery in Mombaruzzo and considered one of the finest barrel-aged grappas the company has to offer. This grappa is distilled from the pomace of the Barbera grape, a variety that has played a central role in viticulture in the region since the Middle Ages and develops its characteristic fruitiness in Barbera d'Asti wines. After careful, discontinuous distillation in small copper steam stills, Roccanivo is aged for over eight years in wooden barrels of different types of wood and degrees of toasting, giving it its warm amber color and complex aroma — a development that clearly distinguishes it from young pomace brandy and gives it depth and harmonious finesse.
The aroma of this grappa captivates with a complex, enveloping bouquet in which aromas of sour cherries and wild berries blend with seductive notes of chocolate, vanilla, and subtle balsamic hints. On the palate, Roccanivo is rich, smooth, and harmonious, supported by a velvety texture and a lively, finely structured complexity that manifests itself in a long-lasting, elegant finish with warm wood and fruit nuances. The origin of its name refers to the Roccanivo hill in Casalotto di Mombaruzzo — the place where the distillery has its roots and where the long family tradition of Berta distillation began.
