The real Prosecco Cartizze seems a bit clumsy at first due to the subtly increased residual sugar, but immediately inspires with noble finesse, earthiness and minerality. This royal class of Prosecco scores not only with animating fruit, but also has tension and elegance. The interplay of acidity and sweetness, the minerality and structure are fun to drink. A Cartizze stays on the palate for a long time.
The addition Cartizze designates the most sought-after, extremely rare and high-quality Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore. A comparison of the areas under cultivation alone illustrates the value of this special Prosecco: the Cartizze vineyard covers 106 hectares of vines, while the total area under cultivation for Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG is around 6,100 hectares. It should be noted that Cartizze is being compared here with the already very high-quality DOCG appellation and not with the simpler DOC variants, whose acreage is many times greater.
Cartizze has its own aura, as this sparkling wine is nothing less than the nucleus of Prosecco. It is considered the king of sparkling wines from the hills and mountains in the area of Valdobbiadene and Conegliano in the province of Treviso, north of Venice. In the case of Cartizze, the yield limit is halved, in addition to the much greater effort required due to the steep slopes.
