The winery, acquired in 1957 by the father of the current owner, has undergone a radical improvement under Gualtiero since the late 1980s, with the planting of new vineyards (about 100 hectares on 500 between olive groves and farmland), the construction of the new underground cellar, the purchase of selected barrels used and dosed differently and cement tanks. Gualtiero, with the help of new and capable collaborators, has changed the organization of the farm, whose activities are the result of coordination between land and cellar, sales and communication. The new vineyards were planted with clone selections tested at the University of Pisa.

The winemaking techniques are oriented to the search for excellence with the purchase of 30 and 60 hl barrels of French oak, and the selection of grapes is done manually both in the vineyard and in the cellar with the most innovative methods (Oshillys) to obtain an optimal harvest. The vineyards today - after years of conversion - are all managed organically.

Not to mention the tasting cellar and the renovation of old farms and houses in the village to accommodate wine lovers. The vineyards are located in the same area with an extension of about 100 hectares, but the altitude varies from area to area and the vineyards are all located at an altitude between 250-270 meters above sea level. The geological characteristics are different: some soils are sandy loam, others clayey, still others with fossils and marl. About 300,000 bottles are produced, including Brunello, Rosso di Montalcino, igt Poderuccio, Gamal Vermentino and Gamal Rosato, as well as an organic olive oil DOP Terre di Siena and grappa from the Brunello vineyards. - Gerardo [TS03/23]

"Camigliano was acquired in 1957 by Walter Ghezzi, an entrepreneur very fond of agriculture, and converted to the production of quality wines, especially Brunello di Montalcino. His son Gualtiero and his family have worked hard to modernize the farm and enhance the area. In 2014 the winery also began to produce wines with organic methods, the herbicides have since been completely replaced by mechanical tillage between the rows and also by manual intervention in the younger vineyards." - Falstaff
