  Donnafugata's La Fuga Chardonnay Sicilia is the result of a conscious new beginning - the name refers to the founding idea of co-founder Gabriella Anca Rallo, who “escaped” from her former life to devote all her energy to shaping Sicilian viticulture. The vines grow in the rolling hills of Contessa Entellina in southwestern Sicily on calcareous and clayey soils, accompanied by the wind and characteristic temperature fluctuations between day and night - a terroir that produces both freshness and refinement. The grapes are harvested by hand in the early hours of the morning; classic strong oak aging is avoided in order to allow the varietal clarity of Chardonnay and the distinctiveness of its origin to come to the fore.

In the glass, La Fuga presents itself in a light straw yellow with greenish reflections, visually announcing its lightness and stylistic confidence. The nose reveals notes of white peach, yellow melon, and fresh citrus zest, accompanied by hints of orange blossom and a subtle touch of vanilla—complemented by an underlying minerality reminiscent of damp chalky soil. On the palate, the wine has a smooth texture with a clear structure, lively freshness, and a salty-mineral finish—instead of lush opulence, it captivates with elegance and precision.
