The Etna Rosso Fragore, a pure Nerello Mascalese, impresses with its radiant ruby red color, which shimmers vividly in the glass and immediately hints at its origin from the volcanic soils of Mount Etna. The profound bouquet unfolds seductive aromas of sweet tobacco, nutmeg and juicy currants, accompanied by fine balsamic accents and a hint of flintstone. This aromatic complexity perfectly accentuates the unique terroir personality of Etna.

On the palate, Fragore has an elegant and complex structure characterized by a lively minerality. The present but well-integrated tannins give the wine remarkable finesse and depth, which are wonderfully accentuated in the long, persistent finish. This exceptional Etna Rosso is an ideal accompaniment to mature cheese or game dishes and invites you to experience the multifaceted landscape of Etna in your glass. A wine that impresses with both its complexity and elegance and reflects the essence of Sicily. - Gerardo [TS10/22]

"Medium dense ruby with garnet glints. Opens on nuances of fresh blackberry, wild berry yogurt, the finest nougat cream and flint. Comes with compact structure, shows grip and plenty of minerality, stout tannin settles over the tongue, rich in body, pushes again on the palate on the finish." - Falstaff

´Fragore´ · Etna Rosso DOC 2021 © www.donnafugata.it

The Fragore Etna Rosso from the Donnafugata winery encapsulates the spirit of Sicily and the power of the volcano in one impressive expression: it is made from 100% Nerello Mascalese grapes, grown on the high slopes of Contrada Montelaguardia on the northern flank of Mount Etna. The vineyards are rooted in sandy, lava-rich soils created by ancient lava flows (“Sciarè”) - the wine literally carries the history of the volcano within it. Gentle hand harvesting with selection of the grapes, maceration for ten to twelve days, and aging in French oak (second and third use barriques) followed by bottle aging ensure a complex, terroir-driven character.

In the glass, Fragore presents itself in a bright ruby red with violet reflections - a visual harbinger of its depth and presence. The nose reveals wild berries such as blackberries and hedge berries, accompanied by elegant tobacco and spice notes as well as a hint of flint and forest floor-like minerality, which bear direct witness to the volcanic subsoil. On the palate, it shows an impressive structure with fine-grained tannins, lively fruit, and noticeable minerality, carried by its origin and elegance. The finish is long, impressive, and full of tension—this wine pairs excellently with game dishes, strong meat dishes, or aged cheese, but is also suitable as an impressive glass for concentrated enjoyment. - Gerardo [TS10/22]
