The Pinot Bianco Quintessenz presents itself in the glass in a bright straw yellow with delicate greenish reflections and makes you want to take the first sip. The nose reveals a multi-layered aroma of yellow apples, sweet honeydew melon, dried chamomile and a fine hint of graphite - a sophisticated composition that skillfully combines freshness and depth.
On the palate, the wine impresses with its harmonious structure, which is supported by a gentle creaminess. The precisely integrated acidity ensures liveliness, while the salty, mineral finish lends the Pinot Blanc elegance and length. "The Cantina Kaltern Alto Adige Pinot Bianco Quintessenz is part of this estate's top-shelf line of Alto Adige wines. Pinot Bianco is especially well suited to the white limestone soils, glacier fans and high altitudes of the Italian Dolomites (grapes for this wine are planted from 550 to 600 meters above sea level). This Pinot Bianco (aged in large oak casks for eight months) explores that infinity with special care and expertise, offering a very precise and elegant expression of this versatile white grape. Orchard fruit and Golden Delicious apple open the experience, and the wine moves carefully to embrace aromas of sage, salt, crushed stone and almond. This wine should hold and flesh out further, until the 10-year mark, if not longer." - Robert Parker

© www.kellereikaltern.com The “Quintessenz” Pinot Bianco from the Kaltern Winery embodies the high artistry of South Tyrolean winegrowing culture. Selected grapes of this variety thrive in the best locations around Lake Kaltern, where calcareous gravel soils and the mild climate offer ideal conditions for cultivation. After harvesting, the grapes are gently pressed, followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature. Aging on the fine lees in large wooden and concrete tanks gives the wine additional complexity and structure.
