Lunare · Gewürztraminer DOC 2022

  The “Lunare” Gewürztraminer from the Terlan Winery in South Tyrol already reveals its poetic character in its name — “Lunare” refers to the play of light and shadow that is commonplace on the steep slopes around Terlan, where the alpine climate and Mediterranean sun interact. The grapes come from selected plots with mineral-rich porphyry and sandy soils, which reliably bring out the exotic aromas of the variety with their warmth. After hand-picked selection, gentle pressing and dynamic fermentation take place - half in stainless steel, half in large wooden barrels - followed by prolonged maturation on the fine lees, combining depth, texture, and elegance.

In the glass, the “Lunare” reveals an intense golden yellow color with a warm shimmer that already hints at its rich character. The bouquet opens with beguiling aromas of lychee, grapefruit, and lime, interwoven with rose petals, ginger, and a subtle salty minerality—a fragrance that combines fruit, spice, and terroir. On the palate, the wine impresses with its velvety texture and noticeable substance: exotic fruit notes combine with an elegant backbone of spice and minerality, and the finish reveals a subtle bitter note that characterizes the style of this Gewürztraminer. It is an ideal accompaniment to spicy or Asian-inspired dishes, but also conveys the sensual experience of a top South Tyrolean white wine when enjoyed on its own. - Gerardo [TS10/23]
