Cantina Terlan | South Tyrol
The Terlan Winery was founded in 1893 and is today one of the leading winegrowers' cooperatives in South Tyrol. It currently has 143 members who own 165 hectares of vineyards, representing a total volume of 1.4 million bottles per year. Together with its members, the Terlan Winery has been following a strict quality course for years, which has earned it notoriety and recognition on the Italian and international wine markets.
The Terlan Winery has thus become a firm institution in the professional world. A special feature of the winery are the rarities, special bottlings of matured white wines that have spent at least ten years on the fine lees in steel pressure tanks. Particularly impressive is the youthful freshness with which these Terlaners captivate despite their mature age, making the wines ideal for extended bottle aging. Terlan has the terroir to produce great white wines and skillfully demonstrates this with its rarities. - Gerardo [TS03/23]
"The Terlan winery has always had an excellent reputation for its long-lived white wines. The growths from Terlan start slowly, need a little longer to develop, but are then complex and independent." - Falstaff

Cantina Terlan | South Tyrol | Buy at Gerardo
Authentic, long-lasting wines are the trademark and a tradition that has grown over the years of the world-renowned winery, which has focused on quality and long-lasting wines since its founding in 1893. This is mainly due to the high mineral content and the barrenness of the Terlan soils. Both in harmony has always led to extreme yield reduction. The result is positive quality and stability effects. Today, the Terlan Winery is one of the smaller wineries in South Tyrol with more than 160 members who together cultivate 190 hectares of vineyards. The manageable size, the close and individual cooperation, and the cohesion among the winemakers contribute significantly to quality assurance. The common consensus is that in a cooperatively organized community, distinctive wines can only be produced if everyone does what they do best.
The varietal focus of the modern farm has always been on white wine. The grapes grow mostly at 250 to 900 meters above sea level on steep slopes with up to 70 percent incline. These growing conditions, which are special even for South Tyrol, are reflected in the wines, as is the exceptional wine expertise of the Terlan team. Unique in Italy is the wine archive of the Terlan Winery with around 100,000 bottles of all vintages from 1955 to the present, some even earlier. The oldest bottle dates back to the founding year. - Gerardo [TS03/23]
