Penon · Pinot-Grigio DOC 2022

  The “Penon” Pinot Grigio from the Kurtatsch Winery is an impressive statement of Alpine white wine artistry. In the high-altitude “Penon” vineyard above Kurtatsch—between 450 and 700 meters—the vines are rooted in limestone- and dolomite-rich clay-gravel soils, with pronounced day-night temperature changes and steep slope exposure. These terroir-influenced conditions enable early ripening, reduced yields, and exceptional concentration. In the cellar, around 80% is fermented in stainless steel tanks and 20% in French barriques - the wine is then aged on the fine lees, which gives it depth and character.

In the glass, Penon is a bright straw yellow with green reflections—a visual indication of freshness and elegance. The nose is carried by aromas of yellow peaches, Kaiser pears, apples, and mandarins, underpinned by a delicate floral note and a noticeable salty and pebbly minerality that makes the stony terroir audible. On the palate, this fruity intensity combines with a clear texture and lively flow: the wine is both juicy and polished, with a salty, mineral finish - ideal as a stylish accompaniment to white meat, fine fish dishes, or simply as an elegant wine moment in the glass. - Gerardo [TS10/23]
