Kofl · Sauvignon DOC 2022

  The “Kofl” Sauvignon from the Kurtatsch Winery comes from the steep “Penon-Kofl” hillside, whose name - meaning “mountain top” - already hints at its exposed origin. The vines grow on sandy and gravelly soils rich in limestone and dolomite at altitudes between about 450 and 600 meters; Evening downdrafts bring cool nights, which give the variety its lively freshness and character. In the cellar, the maceration period is very short, followed by temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks and then fine yeast storage, partly in large wooden barrels and concrete containers - an approach that balances fruit and origin in equal measure.

In the glass, the Kofl appears light gold with delicate green reflections - a visual indication of vitality and style. The nose reveals a complex interplay of aromas of gooseberry, kiwi, and elderflower, complemented by salty mineral notes and herbs such as sage and wormwood, which make the stony terroir palpable. On the palate, the wine impresses with its clear texture, dynamic movement, and long, delicate finish; the mineral backbone adds depth without being loud.
