Caliz · Chardonnay DOC 2025

  The “Caliz” Chardonnay from the Kurtatsch Winery is an impressive example of how origin, soil type, and stylish winemaking in South Tyrol merge to create a modern white wine experience. The name “Caliz” is derived from the Latin ‘Calix’ (chalice) and “Calx” (limestone) and refers to the light, limestone- and dolomite-rich gravel soils on which the Chardonnay grapes grow. The south-east exposure of the vineyards, with pronounced day-night temperature differences, as well as careful fermentation and prolonged fine lees aging, give the wine depth and lively freshness at the same time.

In the glass, Caliz is a brilliant straw yellow with delicate greenish reflections—a visual promise of vitality and elegance. The nose offers a delicate bouquet of pineapple and banana notes, lime zest, and fine mineral spice, accompanied by a moderate wood note that gives the wine structure without making it seem heavy.
