Soma · Merlot-Cabernet DOC 2022

  The “Soma” Merlot-Cabernet from the Kurtatsch Winery is a powerful cuvée that impressively showcases the territory of South Tyrol's lowlands with southern warmth and alpine backbone. The grapes grow in ideal conditions on the deep, sandy, and loamy slopes around Kurtatsch, where the gravelly and dolomitic soils give the wine substance and minerality. The blend of Merlot (for fruitiness) and Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon (for spice, structure, and depth) follows a clear concept: temperature-controlled fermentation in a rotary tank, followed by aging in barriques and large wooden barrels.

In the glass, Soma reveals a dense color intensity that already hints at its concentration. The bouquet is carried by notes of ripe cherry, blackberry, and plum, accompanied by herbal spice and gentle hints of wood and licorice—a style that combines fruit and depth.
