  The “Graf” Pinot Nero from the Merano Winery impressively demonstrates how an internationally renowned grape variety can develop a very special facet in an alpine environment. The grapes come from old vines on the sunny slopes around Merano and Cermes, where humus-rich sand and moraine debris soil meets granite and gneiss. Careful harvesting, temperature-controlled maceration, and aging in used oak barriques give the wine a stylish yet accessible character.

In the glass, the Pinot Noir presents itself in a clear ruby red with violet reflections. Its bouquet unfolds aromas of red and dark berries—such as raspberry and wild cherry—complemented by noble wood tones and a fine herbal spice that makes the alpine terroir palpable. On the palate, the wine is smooth yet structured, with gentle, well-integrated tannins and a long finish that pairs well with well-aged meat dishes or strong cheeses. - Gerardo [TS10/24]
