Festival · Chardonnay DOC 2023

  The “Festival” Chardonnay from the Merano Winery is a lively yet elegant white wine with a clear sense of origin. The grapes thrive in four different vineyards at altitudes of between approximately 280 and 450 meters around Marling, Merano, Lana, and Algund—a mix of locations that allows for a harmonious balance of fruitiness and alpine freshness. The soils of humus-rich, slightly loamy sand, granite, and gneiss give the wine a subtle minerality, while the absence of hectic processing—selective harvesting, gentle pressing, fermentation in stainless steel tanks, and five months of aging on the fine lees—gives it a delicate structure and authenticity.

In the glass, Festival Chardonnay displays a lively straw yellow color with greenish reflections—a visual indication of its freshness and vitality. Its aromas reveal ripe apples, bananas, and pineapple, complemented by a delicate stony spice that makes the terroir palpable. On the palate, it impresses with its full-bodied fruit and accessible texture: the wine is soft and harmonious at the same time, carried by lively minerality and a pleasantly long finish.
