  The “Graf” Merlot-Lagrein from the Meran Winery is a fascinating liaison between two stylistically and structurally different grape varieties, whose origins and cultivation have been carefully combined. The Merlot gives the wine a smooth fruitiness and velvety texture, while the Lagrein, with its spicy depth and floral signature, makes its Alpine origins audible. Grown in vineyards above Merano and Lagundo on permeable moraine debris, this cuvée brings soil and altitude into the bottle. Controlled maceration is followed by a maturation process in new and used barriques and small oak barrels, which creates depth and structure without allowing the fruit to fade into the background.

In the glass, the “Graf” Merlot-Lagrein is dark ruby red with violet reflections—a visual hint of its concentration and elegance. The bouquet spreads aromas of dark forest berries, blackcurrant, and wild cherry, accompanied by delicate vanilla notes, hints of coffee, and a pleasant spiciness. On the palate, the wine impresses with its full-bodied fruit, fine-grained tannins, and a long finish that combines elegance and power.
