  The “Vinschgau” Pinot Nero from the Merano Winery clearly reflects the alpine origins and challenging conditions of viticulture in the Vinschgau Valley. The vines thrive on barren, weathered soils of slate, granite, and gneiss—sunny slopes, cool nights, and a noticeable wind characterize the microclimate of this smallest DOC area in South Tyrol. During vinification, emphasis is placed on careful processing: after careful harvesting, maceration takes place at a controlled temperature; part of the wine matures in used barriques, resulting in a harmonious combination of fruit and wood.

In the glass, this Pinot Noir presents itself in a clear ruby red with dark reflections - a first indication of concentration and refinement. The nose reveals aromas of wild cherry, raspberry, and blackcurrant, accompanied by hints of undergrowth and fine pepper spice, which bring the mountainous environment and the distinctive character of this wine to life. On the palate, the fruity presence combines with an elegant structure and fine tannins, supported by mineral clarity - a red wine that makes its origin palpable while remaining accessible; ideal with game dishes, mature cheese, or simply enjoyed in a quiet moment. - Gerardo [TS10/23]
