Meraner Küchelberg DOC 2023

  The Meraner Küchelberg Vernatsch from the Meran Winery impressively demonstrates how the indigenous Vernatsch grape develops its alpine lightness on the sun-drenched steep slopes of the Küchelberg above Meran. Grown on permeable moraine debris and sandy soils, the vines benefit from high altitude and good ventilation—conditions that produce both intensity and freshness. After gentle hand harvesting and controlled fermentation in stainless steel, the wine undergoes a short period of aging in large oak barrels, which gives it an elegant structure without losing its original character.

In the glass, Küchelberg Vernatsch presents itself in a light ruby color with violet reflections—a visual sign of its fine fruit. The nose unfolds aromas of wild raspberries, red currants, and a hint of bitter almond and violet, which are typical of the Vernatsch variety. On the palate, it impresses with its smooth texture, well-integrated tannins, and lively freshness: the wine is light-footed yet full of character - ideal as an accompaniment to South Tyrolean marende, cheese and bacon platters, or simply for a moment of enjoyment in good company. - Gerardo [TS10/24]
