Lafot · Cabernet DOC 2021

  The “Lafot” Cabernet from Nals-Margreid is an expressive red wine made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes come from the calcareous clay-gravel soils around Magrè, at 220 to 350 meters above sea level, with a south-southeast exposure. After selective hand harvesting and gentle destemming, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with gentle pumping over. The wine is then aged for 12 months in barriques and a further 12 months in the bottle, which gives it depth and aging potential.

In the glass, Lafot presents itself in an intense ruby red with beautiful density. The bouquet is complex and multi-layered, with aromas of blackberries, blueberries, a hint of licorice, eucalyptus, and a balsamic note. On the palate, it is deep and dense, with salty tannins and a long-lasting, spicy finish. This wine is excellent with game dishes such as chamois ragout or the classic “Spiedo Bresciano.” It should be served at 61-64°F and stored in a cool place at 50-55°F to develop its full aging potential. - Gerardo [TS10/22]
