Blauburgunder DOC 2023

  The Pinot Nero DOC from the Neustift monastery in South Tyrol appears in the glass in a deep ruby red with purple reflections that reveal its youthful vitality. The nose reveals an elegant bouquet of sour cherries, red berries, and plums, accompanied by hints of forest floor and delicate spicy notes—the aroma conveys a fine balance of fruitiness and earthy depth.

On the palate, the Pinot Noir is velvety and juicy, with harmoniously integrated acidity and softly coated tannins that give the wine a pleasant structure and accessibility. The fruit remains present and lively, while the finish is elegant and slightly tart — a wine of restrained power and pleasant lightness. Particularly noteworthy is the anchoring of this grape variety in the history of the monastery: for more than 50 years, Neustift Monastery has been cultivating Pinot Nero on the porphyritic soils around Girlan, allowing this wine to express the special characteristics of the South Tyrolean terroir — both alpine and Mediterranean — with clarity and authenticity. - Gerardo [TS10/24]
