Story: Tenute Rubino | Puglia

Tenute Rubino: sustainability and tradition in Apulia
The Tenute Rubino winery embodies the perfect symbiosis of traditional Apulian viticulture and a modern, sustainable philosophy. As a pioneer in a region known for its sunny vineyards and powerful red wines, the winery sets new standards in terms of environmental protection and quality. With a resolute commitment to environmental sustainability, certified working methods and a deep connection to the local culture, Tenute Rubino has become one of the most outstanding producers in southern Italy.

Sustainability as a guiding principle
Sustainability is not just a buzzword at Tenute Rubino, but a living reality. The winery has set itself the task of minimizing its ecological footprint at every stage of production. Membership of the renowned VIVA project, which promotes sustainable winegrowing practices in Italy, and certification by the national integrated production system SQNPI (Sistema di Qualità Nazionale di Produzione Integrata) are proof of the winery's comprehensive commitment. Since 2016, the winery has also been certified by CSQA, one of Italy's leading certification bodies for quality and sustainability.

The sustainable philosophy is evident in every facet of viticulture. Water consumption is minimized by a highly efficient irrigation system, which is only used in emergencies to conserve local water resources. Weed control is carried out mechanically, without the use of chemical agents. These methods not only preserve the quality of the soil, but also promote the biodiversity of the surrounding area. In a region like Apulia, which has long been known for intensive and environmentally unfriendly viticulture, Tenute Rubino is setting an important example.

Innovative architecture for a green future
The focus on sustainability is also reflected in the architecture of the new wine cellar. The cellar in Jaddico, which was built in the heart of the vineyards of the same name, is a masterpiece of bio-architecture. Only local and traditional materials were used in its construction, which are not only visually appealing but also ecologically sound. The minimalist design of the building blends harmoniously into the landscape and reduces the visual impact on the surrounding nature.

Particular attention was paid to energy efficiency: All parts of the building are insulated in order to reduce the energy required to regulate the temperature. Further measures are also planned, including the use of renewable energies and the optimization of water consumption. With these efforts, Tenute Rubino is setting a new standard for sustainable architecture in viticulture.

Diversity of production sites and terroirs
Another key to Tenute Rubino's success is the extraordinary diversity of its production sites. The winery has several sites in the renowned wine-growing regions of Puglia, including the famous area around Brindisi. This geographical diversity makes it possible to produce wines with different characters and styles that reflect the rich terroir of the region.

Each production site is cultivated with the utmost care in order to make the most of the potential of the individual soils and microclimates. The vineyards are characterized by a unique combination of Mediterranean climate, fertile soils and proximity to the Adriatic Sea, which provides a refreshing sea breeze. These conditions give the wines of Tenute Rubino their characteristic elegance, freshness and depth.

The Jaddico wine cellar: a jewel of the Brindisi region
The new wine cellar in Jaddico is not only a symbol of sustainable innovation, but also an architectural highlight. With its straightforward and functional design, it represents a modern interpretation of traditional Apulian architecture. The building was designed to blend seamlessly into the surrounding landscape, while at the same time providing an ideal environment for winemaking. This is where the wines of Tenute Rubino are created, capturing the heart and soul of Puglia in every bottle.

Wine production in the Jaddico cellar strictly follows the principles of sustainability. All processes - from grape reception to storage - have been designed to minimize energy consumption and conserve natural resources. This commitment to environmentally friendly wine production is further proof of Tenute Rubino's pioneering work in the region.

Tenute Rubino: A vision for the future of viticulture
Tenute Rubino is a flagship project for sustainable viticulture in Apulia. The winery impressively demonstrates that traditional values and modern technologies can go hand in hand to create sustainable agriculture. With its focus on quality, innovation and environmental protection, the winery sets standards that reach far beyond the region.

The wines of Tenute Rubino reflect the passion and skill of the people behind this extraordinary project. They are not only a pleasure for the senses, but also an expression of respect for nature and the rich heritage of Puglia. Anyone interested in authentic, sustainably produced wines will find a real gem in Tenute Rubino. - Gerardo [TS11/24]
