The name Cà del Pazzo goes back to historical maps showing the village that is now called Caparzo. This ancient name was given to a special wine made from a careful selection of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The grapes come from the best vineyards in Caparzo and San Piero Caselle and reflect the diversity and depth of the terroir. The wine was first vinified in 1982 and is considered one of the first true Supertuscans from the Brunello region - a pioneer in its category.

The Cà del Pazzo is produced exclusively in the best vintages and only bottled in strictly limited editions. With its exceptional structure, depth and ageing potential, it is aimed at a discerning audience of connoisseurs and lovers of wines with a strong character. It is an expression of the spirit of innovation and the art of Tuscan winemaking - a truly unique wine that combines the history and progress of the region in every bottle. - Gerardo [TS11/22]

"Dark, bright ruby with cherry-red edges. Inviting nose of blackberries, ripe plum and rose petal, opens up of walnut and licorice, light soot. Great body, presses velvety on the palate, straightforward, with light fruit sweetness, finishing on dark berries with grippy tannins." - Falstaff

The name Cà del Pazzo comes from old cadastral plans, which referred to the current area of Caparzo as “Cà del Pazzo”. Today, this historical name is the inspiration for a wine made from a careful selection of grapes from the Caparzo and San Piero Caselle vineyards. Cà del Pazzo was first produced in 1982 and is considered one of the first “Supertuscans” from the Brunello region. It is produced exclusively in outstanding vintages and bottled in limited quantities for discerning wine connoisseurs.

The vines for this wine grow on south and east-facing soils: the Caparzo vineyard offers sandy-clayey soils, while San Piero Caselle is characterized by similar, slightly varying formations. Manual harvesting guarantees the utmost care, followed by separate fermentation of the different grape varieties at controlled temperatures of 28-30 °C for six days. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation and partial ageing in wooden barrels give the wine its unmistakable structure.

The Cà del Pazzo has a very intense ruby red color in the glass. Its bouquet is broad and expressive, characterized by ripe blackberries, liquorice roots, Amarena jam and notes of white truffle, spices and vanilla. On the palate, the wine is dry, warm and full-bodied with a generous yet velvety character. The finish is characterized by an elegant hint of roasted almonds, which unfolds long and pleasantly in the mouth.

This aristocratic Supertuscan harmonizes perfectly with roasted or grilled meat dishes, truffle dishes, mushroom variations and mature cheeses. With an ageing potential of 12 years, it offers an exceptional taste experience both shortly after maturing in the bottle and after a few years in the cellar. For perfect enjoyment, a serving temperature of 18 °C is recommended, ideally after 1-2 hours of decanting. - Gerardo [TS11/22]
