La Caduta is a special vineyard in the south of Montalcino, which extends over 7.5 hectares and offers ideal conditions for viticulture thanks to its favorable location and soil composition. Caparzo made a conscious decision to use part of this vineyard exclusively for the production of a Cru Rosso di Montalcino - a bold step that is reflected in the exceptional quality of the wine.

The Rosso di Montalcino DOC La Caduta clearly stands out from the average of its appellation and surpasses the classic image of the “little brother of Brunello” in many respects. With its structure, depth and complexity, it approaches the standard of a Brunello, yet remains lively and accessible in its expression. La Caduta is therefore an outstanding example of the potential of a Rosso di Montalcino and is one of the few wines that can hold its own as a true exception in this category. - Gerardo [TS11/23]

"Radiant, bright ruby red. Freshly baked brown bread, ripe strawberries and wild berries on the nose, with a fine peach note and a delicate hint of watermelon. The palate has a fine, sweet melting texture and tightly woven tannins, powerful and elegant, with a long, powerful finish." - Falstaff

The Rosso di Montalcino 'La Caduta' from Caparzo is an outstanding wine that exceeds the expectations of the appellation. As a single-vineyard wine, produced from the 7.5-hectare vineyard of the same name, it represents a refined interpretation of Rosso di Montalcino. The wine stands out from its reputation as the 'little brother of Brunello' and is one of the best representatives of its kind.

The La Caduta vineyard is located in the south-west of Montalcino at an altitude of 280 to 300 meters above sea level. The soils consist of poligenous conglomerates, coarse-grained sandstone and Eurite gravel, which gives the grapes an unmistakable minerality. The microclimate is favored by maritime winds, which promote grape ripening and contribute to the complexity of the wine.

A careful manual harvest is followed by a temperature-controlled fermentation with an extended skin contact of 10 days to maximize the aromas and structure of the wine. Part of the wine is matured in wood, which gives it additional elegance and depth.

The wine is an intense ruby red in the glass. The bouquet is fine and complex, characterized by notes of small dark forest fruits and a subtle vanilla aroma. On the palate, it develops a pleasant warmth, dry structure and harmonious balance, accompanied by impressive persistence.

Thanks to its versatility, Rosso di Montalcino 'La Caduta' harmonizes perfectly with pasta dishes, stews, grilled meat or stews. With a storage potential of up to 15 years, it is a delight for discerning wine lovers. - Gerardo [TS11/23]
