Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2017

Fuligni's Brunello matures, as required by law, for 4 years, of which two, sometimes even three years, in wood. This Brunello has the characteristic of excellent longevity, but is also accessible for early enjoyment. The Brunello of Fuligni is an elegant synthesis of fruit scent and spice. Going with the flow has never been the intention of the Campedelli family, which is behind the Marion winery. This is evident not only in the unusual for the Veneto grape varieties such as Teroldego, but also in the fantasy cuvee 'Calto'. This prestigious wine is nothing other than a very personal interpretation of Amarone, which, however, cannot be marketed as such due to legal regulations. The proportion of Teroldego provides additional fire, accordingly, this wine is intense:

The grapes for this strictly limited Barbaresco Riserva come from the vineyard of the same name Asili. This wine is only released in the very best years and is the first special edition in a long time, which speaks for the top vintage of 2017. To set the Barbaresco Riserva Asili apart from the classic Barbaresco of the same name, there is a further selection of grapes and a longer aging in oak barrels. I Sodi di San Niccolo - the flagship of Castellare di Castellina - comes from the vineyard around the church of San Niccolo: this almost pure Sangioveto (Sangiovese) is complemented with Malvasia Nera, both from vines almost 30 years old. The color is an intense ruby red with garnet highlights. The aroma is fruity and reminiscent of wild berries, underlined by spices and some vanilla. This wine reached the top 100 of Wine Specator magazine several times and also received the coveted award of 3 glasses in the wine guide Gambero Rosso.

Barren soils are a basic requirement for high quality wines. Therefore, the sites where the vine has to fight for water and food are the most sought-after for Tuscan winemakers.
