When thinking of Chardonnay from Europe, the narrow strip of land north of Lyon usually comes to mind, and for obvious reasons. Chardonnay has also been grown very successfully for years in Piedmont, where it achieves good results:
Giulio Grasso's daughter Valentina, after her experience in Burgundy, has begun work on her own Chardonnay project, an experimental version that combines the French style of winemaking with the terroir of Barbaresco.
Mineral, creamy and toasted notes, with great acidity and mouthfeel. This unfiltered version of Chardonnay is one of the pearls that we like to include in our wine selection. - Gerardo [TS04/21]
