Maluentu · Rosso Tharros IGT 2023

  The “Maluentu Rosso Tharros” from the Attilio Contini winery is an impressive tribute to the rare Sardinian grape variety Nieddera, which is predominantly used here and thus has a clear identity of origin. The name “Maluentu” refers to the small island of Maldi Ventre - a symbol of the connection to the island's coastal areas and the power of wind and sea in the wine. In the vineyards of the Tirso Valley and on the Sinis Peninsula, the vines grow on sandy and slightly loamy soils with a limestone subsoil, resulting in a fruity expression with Mediterranean herbal spices. Vinification involves destemming and gentle crushing, followed by maceration on the skins and subsequent aging in stainless steel tanks or first cellaring - a process that clearly brings out the freshness and varietal character.

In the glass, Maluentu displays a clear ruby red color with violet reflections—a visual promise of its youth and expressiveness. The nose greets us with a bouquet of dark forest berries, myrtle herb, and balsamic notes, which evoke the salty sea air of the region. On the palate, the wine impresses with juicy fruit, velvety but present tannins, and a subtle salty minerality on the finish - its origins are evident at its core.
