  Donnafugata's Sul Vulcano Etna Rosso offers a deep insight into the volcanic terroir of the northern slopes of Mount Etna: Nerello Mascalese grapes—supplemented by a small proportion of Nerello Cappuccio—ripen on sandy, lava-rich soils at an altitude of around 730-750 meters before being aged in a combination of stainless steel tanks and French barriques. The name “Sul Vulcano” is not merely a metaphor: it refers to the lively interplay of volcanic energy, altitude, and Mediterranean breezes, which give the wine its distinctive minerality and style.

In the glass, this red wine is a light ruby red - a reflection of its origin - and unfolds a finely drawn bouquet of red wild and sour cherries, complemented by fresh balsamic notes of mint and delicate spice nuances such as star anise and cardamom.
