Kabir · Moscato di Pantelleria DOC 2024

  The sweet Kabir Moscato di Pantelleria from Donnafugata pays homage to the barren, windswept island of Pantelleria and its traditional grape variety Zibibbo (also known as Moscato d'Alessandria). The name “Kabir,” which comes from Arabic and means “the great,” reflects the sublime origins and aromatic potential of this dessert wine. The vines grow on terraced lava soils at altitudes between 20 and 400 meters above sea level—a terrain of volcanic origin where the plants thrive in the gentle Alberello Pantesco system. After harvesting, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by maturation in the bottle: this preserves the delicate fruit aromas and embeds a mineral depth.

In the glass, Kabir presents itself in a light straw yellow with golden reflections - a visual harbinger of its Mediterranean origins. The nose is played with exotic passion fruit, citrus notes, and orange blossom, underpinned by a fine salty minerality that reflects the island's terroir. On the palate, sweet nuances of candied orange and tropical fruit intertwine with a lively freshness and a noticeable mineral vein - the result is an elegant dessert profile with a lingering finish and subtle spice.
