  The Lasón Merlot Riserva from the Kaltern Winery is a red wine that embodies the characteristic features of South Tyrolean winemaking. The grapes come from a south-facing, bowl-shaped vineyard with a particularly warm microclimate, which offers ideal conditions for the ripening of Merlot grapes. After harvesting, slow fermentation takes place with at least two weeks of maceration at a controlled temperature, followed by malolactic fermentation and twelve months of aging in barriques, a quarter of which are new. This careful vinification gives the wine its special structure and complexity.

In the glass, Lasón Merlot Riserva presents itself in a deep, brilliant ruby red with violet reflections. The bouquet unfolds aromas of ripe blackberries, wild cherries, and a hint of licorice. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with perfectly balanced tannins, making it pleasant to drink. The finish is accompanied by sweet fruit, making Lasón Merlot Riserva a full-bodied and elegant red wine that pairs well with game dishes, braised meat, or spicy cheese. - Gerardo [TS10/22]
