  The “Frauenhügel” Lagrein Riserva from the Kurtatsch Winery is a powerful expression of South Tyrol's most traditional local variety, grown on warm slopes with red loamy, clay-mineral soil above Kurtatsch, which gives the wine its distinctive spiciness. After selective hand harvesting, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled rotary tanks, followed by 12 months of aging in barriques and large wooden barrels—a process that combines depth and structure with fruit and origin.

In the glass, “Frauenhügel” displays a dense garnet red color with violet reflections—a visual promise of concentration and elegance. The nose reveals aromas of wild berries and elderberries, black cherries, and fine cocoa, accompanied by balsamic tannins that testify to the barrique aging. The palate reveals a rich fruit body, complemented by a spicy licorice note and an earthy minerality in the finish - a wine with length, provenance, and character, ideal with hearty meat dishes or as a moment of pleasure for the discerning palate. - Gerardo [TS10/23]
