From the 13th century until the early modern times, 'Traminer' was the most famous wine from the South Tyrol area. Over the centuries, the Gewürztraminer grape, starting from its place of origin Tramin, has spread throughout the wine world. On the south exposed Kurtatsch hillsides, the highly aromatic Gewürztraminer finds its ideal habitat: limestone and clay soils! Here a full-bodied wine with a strong backbone and concentrated, baroque aroma is produced. A pronounced mineral nerve lends a lingering freshness to the almost oily body, redolent of roses, magnolias and lychees. - Gerardo [TS07/21]
Gerardo's Notes: Gewürztraminer requires specific sites to reach its full potential. It finds its ideal habitat on the predominantly clayey, sun-exposed hills between 280 and 450 meters above sea level. There the Kurtatscher Gewürztraminer can develop its concentrated primary aromas. Due to the nightly cooling of the vineyards and because of the mineral diversity of the soils, an exciting balance between intensity and elegance is created.
