At Poggio Pollino - Medici Ermete's second winery, fine Lambrusco variations are produced at moderate prices: Fine ruby red with soft purple in the glass. In the fragrance fine berry fruit and some violets. In the mouth full-bodied, harmonious and of barely noticeable tannin. Well suited to cold cuts but also to strong spicy dishes. - Gerardo [TS06/23]
Gerardo's Notes: 'In the province of Reggio Emilia thrive the Lambrusco variations Salamino and Marani, which are the basis for the 'I Quercioli' line. The efforts of the Medici Ermete winery to cultivate the ancient and often ridiculed Lambrusco grape variety are beginning to bear fruit. This is also shown by the wine competition of Vinitaly, so Medici Ermete was named Winery of the Year from Emilia-Romagna. This dry version of Lambrusco is well suited as a food companion, for example with fresh Parmesan or grana cheese, with salami or pasta dishes.'
