  The “Festival” Pinot Nero from the Merano Winery impressively reflects how the demanding Burgundy grape variety is gaining a new facet in the alpine regions of South Tyrol. The grapes thrive in terraced vineyards above Merano and Lana, on sunny slopes with permeable moraine soil, which forces them to develop deep roots and fine aromas. After careful fermentation at a controlled temperature, the wine is aged in used barriques and small oak barrels—a process that gives the wine a noticeable but elegant structure and clearly preserves its varietal character.

In the glass, Festival Pinot Noir presents itself in a light ruby to purple color and opens with fragrant notes of cherry, raspberry, and red wild berries, flanked by subtle hints of undergrowth and spicy herbs. On the palate, the wine delights with polished tannins and a smooth texture that combines freshness and depth. The finish is both elegant and present—a wine that pairs well with wild fowl and mature cheese, but also reveals its stylish origins when enjoyed on its own. - Gerardo [TS10/24]
