Zeno · Blauburgunder Riserva DOC 2020

  The “Zeno” Pinot Nero Riserva from the Merano Winery impressively integrates altitude, soil, and craftsmanship. The grapes come from selected vineyards above Merano on calcareous and slate-rich moraine debris—a geologically challenging zone that gives the Pinot Noir grape variety depth and minerality. Careful work is carried out in the cellar: a short cold maceration, slow fermentation at a controlled temperature, and aging in used oak or tonneau barrels give the wine structure and elegance.

In the glass, this Riserva shines with an intense ruby red color that already hints at its mature personality. The nose reveals aromas of wild berries, wild cherry, and raspberry, complemented by spicy and woody notes such as tobacco and fine undergrowth, which refer to the terroir and the aging process. On the palate, the “Zeno” impresses with gently framed fruit, fine-grained tannins, and a long, elegant finish—a wine that makes its origin palpable and pairs stylishly with wild fowl, lamb, or mature cheese. - Gerardo [TS10/21]
