Goldegg · Chardonnay DOC 2022

  The “Goldegg” Chardonnay from the Merano Winery pays homage to an exceptional location: planted on the west-facing slopes of Schenna near Merano, the vines are rooted in deep, quartz- and marble-rich soils, which develop their depth of aroma under harsh conditions. After careful hand harvesting, the grapes are processed with particular care, and aging in large oak barrels or tonneaux gives the wine structure and depth without compromising its fruity clarity.

In the glass, the Goldegg is a bright straw yellow with a golden sheen—the bouquet transports you to southern climes with hints of banana, ripe pear, and vanilla, underpinned by gentle toasted aromas and a subtle minerality that seems to be deeply rooted in the soil. On the palate, this richness combines with a creamy texture and convincing presence: the wine is powerful yet harmonious, with a noticeable length and fine elegance - an ideal accompaniment to seafood, risotto, or light meat dishes, and at the same time an invitation to enjoyably appreciate its origin and craftsmanship. - Gerardo [TS10/23]
