The grapes for this Valpolicella come from 10-year-old vineyards near Monte del Drago. The result is a red wine of medium weight, fine elegance and balance. To be sure, the Valpolicella name still suffers from the region's misdeeds in the 1980s and 1990s. However, producers like Musella prove that an everyday wine doesn't have to be a sweet, thin infusion. The months of aging in large wooden barrels also suggest how much care Maddalena Pasqua gives to her entry-level wine. - Gerardo [TS08/11]
