Barbaresco Nubiola presents itself in the glass with a clear, lively ruby red colour with slight garnet reflections, which herald its depth and freshness. The nose reveals a complex bouquet in which aromas of ripe red fruits such as cherry and raspberry combine with floral notes and subtle herbal and spicy notes. This richness is accentuated by subtle hints of tea leaves, cedar wood and earthy notes, which underline the classic Nebbiolo profile and lend the wine an elegant complexity. On the palate, Barbaresco Nubiola is harmonious and precise, with silky, well-integrated tannins and lively acidity that supports its structure and leads to a long, spicy finish. The balance between fruit, fine spice and mineral tension makes it a characterful yet accessible expression of the Barbaresco tradition.
A special feature of this Barbaresco is its name and the historical depth associated with it: “Nubiola” was already an old name for the Nebbiolo grape in the 13th century, as it was called in the agricultural literature of the time, and Pelissero has deliberately revived this historical term to emphasise the wine's connection to the roots of its grape variety and region. The grapes come from several plots around Treiso, Neive and Barbaresco, whose calcareous and marly soils, varying altitudes and exposures together form a harmonious terroir mosaic. This combination of traditional viticulture, the historical significance of the name and the cyclical influence of the Langhe climate gives Barbaresco Nubiola its classically fine-structured personality, which pays tribute to both the cultural history of Piedmont and the expressiveness of the Nebbiolo grape. - Gerardo [TS10/22]
