Pelissero's Langhe Rosso Long Now presents itself in the glass with a dense, almost impenetrable ruby red colour with violet hues, which already visually announces its concentration and structure. The nose reveals an opulent, multi-layered bouquet of dark berries, especially blackberries and raspberries, accompanied by red cherries and delicate notes of vanilla and spices, which give the wine additional depth after 15-18 months of ageing in small oak barrels. On the palate, this Langhe Rosso is powerful yet elegant, supported by velvety tannins and lively acidity that harmoniously balances its fruity and spicy character. The combination of ripe fruit and delicate spice creates a body that is both soft and enveloping as well as structured, with a long-lasting, elegant finish that characterises the lasting impression of this red wine.
The uniqueness of this wine lies not only in its fascinating cuvée of 50% Nebbiolo and 50% Barbera, which combines the best qualities of both grape varieties — the acidity and freshness of Barbera with the aromatic finesse and structure of Nebbiolo — but also in its history. The grapes grow in the municipalities of Treiso and Neviglie in the hills of the Langhe, a wine-growing region with a long tradition and international reputation, which Pelissero exploits with respect for the terroir. The name ‘Long Now’ refers to a concept developed by the Long Now Foundation and symbolises the idea of a ‘long present’: a wine that combines patience, time and sustainable maturity and continues to evolve into the future through its ageing in wood and in the bottle. - Gerardo [TS10/22]
