Oppidum · Moscato di Terracina Secco DOC 2022

  On the hills south of Rome, which surround the town of Terracina, grow ancient Moscato vines that were already known and appreciated by the Romans. The exceptional microclimate here has produced a particular variety of muscat grape, Moscato di Terracina. Thanks to careful cultivation in the vineyard and clean aging in the cellar, the 'Oppidum' of Cantina Sant Andrea is a special recommendation: This white wine has a strong, straw-yellow color, with golden reflections. The bouquet is intense and typical of Muscat: notes of exotic fruit, apricot and dried rose petals, complex and exuberant - the term 'room-filling' suggests itself. The palate is rich and full, balanced in acidity and exuberantly aromatic, with notes of almond and a long finish. The most important feature, however, is that the wine is dry, contrary to the usual processing as a sweet wine, Moscato di Terracina Secco 'Oppidum' is one of the few truly dry muscatels - which is precisely why it is so popular. - Gerardo [TS10/23]
