The Cannonau di Sardegna 'Le Bombarde' shows a medium ruby red color. On the nose, in addition to the typical fruity notes, there are hints of plum and some roasted coffee. The palate is full-bodied, robust yet light, with a fine tannic structure. A clean Cannonau for little money. - Gerardo [TS06/22]

Gerardo's Notes: The Bombarde - one of the show labels of Santa Maria la Palma, borrows its name from a coastal strip in whose hinterland are now Cannonau vineyards. The Sardinians had to suffer invasions over the centuries by various peoples, including Aragonese and Spanish. The howitzer depicted on the label is a symbol of national defense of the coastal areas of Sardinia. It is also the symbol of the strong and distinctive character of these vines.
