Mantsch · Lagrein Riserva DOC 2023

  The “Mantsch” Lagrein Riserva from the Schreckbichl Winery is a red wine with a strong character that embodies the essence of the South Tyrolean terroir. Its name refers to the historical significance of the region and gives the wine a deeply rooted identity. The grapes come from the alluvial soils of Gries, whose composition of gravel, loam, and porphyry sand gives the wine structure and depth. After careful vinification, the “Mantsch” matures for about twelve months in barriques and large wooden barrels, followed by further bottle aging to develop its complexity and elegance.

In the glass, the “Mantsch” presents itself in a dark garnet red with violet reflections. The bouquet is complex, combining aromas of dark forest berries, black cherries, and plums with floral notes of violets. Added to this are spicy accents of cinnamon, vanilla, and a hint of smoke. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with ripe tannins and a balanced acidity structure. The finish is long and leaves an impression of fine dark chocolate and Mediterranean herbs.
