Vetrère | Apulia
The Vetrère winery in Apulia is run by sisters Annamaria and Francesca Bruni, and their wines are just as feminine as the two winemakers themselves. Typical of the Salento region, the wines are characterized by their origin and the characteristic grape varieties of the region. They are a harmonious blend of tradition and progress and offer a remarkable ageing potential. The wines impress with a fine, sweet fruity note and a mild, restrained tannin structure, which makes them particularly accessible.
The two sisters celebrated their first successes with their olive oil before also making a name for themselves with their red wines such as the Primitivo Livruni and the Negroamaro Tempio di Giano. In recent years, however, Annamaria and Francesca Bruni have made a name for themselves above all with their exceptional white wines. The indigenous grape variety Fiano Minutolo produces expressive wines with intense aromas and a distinctive bouquet. Their latest project, Minú, a Fiano fermented on the skins, is Apulia's first orange wine and sets new standards in the region.
After graduating from university, Annamaria and Francesca took over the Vetrère family winery and continued to run it with great dedication. The old cellars, which are housed in traditional tufa vaults, were modernized in 2002, with the sisters consistently focusing on sustainability and innovative techniques. In keeping with their respectful approach to nature, the two decided to avoid intensive farming and work their vineyards according to organic principles - without sprays and with a clear focus on healthy vines and wine drinkers. Their consistent and prudent approach has been recognized and awarded many times by both professional organizations and consumers. - Gerardo [TS01/25]
"The farm Vetrere is located in an area of Puglia that is one of the most fertile areas of the Mediterranean and has always produced agricultural products of high quality. Owners and managers of the farm are the two sisters Annamaria and Francesca Bruni, heirs of a long family viticultural tradition. Since they graduated from high school, they have dedicated themselves to the family business with great competence and professionalism. Practically always, the family has dedicated itself with skill and ability to the care of its olive groves and vineyards and the production of highly appreciated wines. In total, the vineyards cover an area of 37 hectares on a plain between the municipalities of Grotaglie and Montemesola. The sun, fertile soils and a mild climate give rise to grapes of the highest quality. They are processed in the cellar under the direction of oenologists Giuseppe Caragnulo and Vincenzo Laera to produce typical regional wines of absolute prestige." - Il mio vino wine magazine
"Until a few years ago, the farm of the Bruni sisters was known mainly for its delicious olive oil. Today, the Vetrere estate in the Apulian panorama is one of the suppliers of fine wines, its labels can be relied upon, its quality is beyond question." - Gambero Rosso
