  We have been stocking Raffaela Bissoni's elegant Sangiovese as an integral part of our range for over a decade now - and with great conviction. What began as a courageous project by a winemaker who was initially ridiculed by some has long since developed into a success story. Raffaela brings out the best of the grape variety with a sure instinct and a great deal of sensitivity, and does so in Bertinoro of all places - a place that has long been hardly associated with high-quality red wine outside the region. Her Sangiovese wines are delicate, supple and full of balance, yet always accessible without being banal - a pleasing contrast to the powerful interpretations from well-known growing regions such as Tuscany.

Recently, her work has also been recognized beyond the region, for example by Meininger Weinwelt, which named Raffaela Bissoni one of the most remarkable female winemakers in Emilia-Romagna. This recognition is more than deserved, as her wines impressively demonstrate how much character and elegance can be found in a grape variety when it is vinified with dedication and without fashionable exaggeration. Raffaela's Sangiovese is therefore not only a special wine, but also a symbol of what can be achieved when you question conventions and consistently follow your own path. - Gerardo [TS10/22]
