The Syrah I Trubi is a powerful, single-varietal Syrah with a dark ruby red color that is dense and deep in the glass. On the nose, it has a harmonious blend of ripe blueberries, dark plums and spicy notes such as pepper and liquorice, hinting at the southern warmth of Sicily. A dense fruit develops on the palate with juicy, dark berry aromas, accompanied by a subtle, fine acidity and soft, velvety tannins that lend the wine structure and elegance. Gerardo's Notes: Der Wein wächst bei Butera und gehört zu Cusumano’s Tenuta San Giacomo. Diese Zone ist insbesondere für den Anbau von Syrah geeignet. Der Syrah ist nach dem hellen, lichtreflektierenden Sedimentgestein 'Trubi' benannt. Diese kalkhaltigen Böden, die der Syrah liebt, sowie das Temperaturgefälle zwischen Tag und Nacht sorgt für die finessenreiche, komplexe Art des Weines. Nach der Lese werden die Trauben etwa zwei Tage bei niedrigen Temperaturen mazeriert, anschließend vergoren und abgepresst. Nach der Gärung lagert der Wein bis zur Abfüllung noch etwa fünf Monate auf der Hefe.
