I Trubi · Syrah Terre Siciliane IGT 2019

Cusumano, Sicily [not in stock]
´I Trubi´ · Syrah Terre Siciliane IGT 2019, Cusumano, Sicily

Pure varietal Syrah of dark ruby color in the glass. The bouquet is reminiscent of blueberries and plums, as well as some pepper and licorice. The palate shows densely packed fruit, fine but subtle acidity and velvety tannins. - Gerardo [TS12/20]

"Dark ruby red with purple core. On the nose, hints of sugared raspberries and a subtle spicy note. On the palate with a fine tannic structure, rather lean and medium length." - Falstaff

Gerardo's Notes: The wine grows near Butera and belongs to Cusumano's Tenuta San Giacomo. This zone is particularly suitable for growing Syrah. The Syrah is named after the light-colored, light-reflecting sedimentary rock 'Trubi'. These calcareous soils, which Syrah loves, as well as the temperature gradient between day and night provides the finesse, complex nature of the wine. After harvesting, the grapes are macerated for about two days at low temperatures, then fermented and pressed. After fermentation, the wine remains on the lees for about five months until bottling.
