I Trubi · Syrah Terre Siciliane IGT 2022

  The name of Cusumano's I Trubi Syrah Terre Siciliane already hints at its strong origins: “Trubi” refers to the light limestone-marl sediments of the region near Butera in southern Sicily, where the Syrah grapes are grown. The grapes are harvested by hand and undergo a short cold maceration before being fermented at a controlled temperature to preserve fruitiness and finesse. The subsequent maturation on fine lees in steel gives the wine elegance without excessive wood influences.

In the glass, I Trubi presents itself with a deep ruby to garnet red color and violet reflections—a visual promise of intensity and substance. The nose is dominated by dark berries such as blackberry and plum, complemented by spicy accents of black pepper and licorice, which stylishly reflect the warm Sicilian terroir. On the palate, it reveals juicy fruit, supported by velvety tannins and a lively structural freshness; the finish is spicy and persistent, with a stylish hint of salt on the finish - making it a modern red wine full of character, which is equally suitable as an accompaniment to grilled meat or spicy stews, or on its own in the glass. - Gerardo [TS10/23]
